Research at FAAS addresses sustainable crop and animal production, food and feed systems, agricultural economics, climate resilience, circular bioeconomy and technology transfer. In 2023/24 faculty staff implemented nine collaborative research projects, published 20 peer-reviewed papers and made 12 scientific conference presentations.
Key work included insect farming for feed and food, conversion of organic waste into biofertilizer, orange-fleshed sweet potato value-chain development, plant breeding and practical money-management support for smallholder farmers. The Faculty also developed two innovations: BUINFERTZ insect-based fertilizer and MORI-FEEDS moringa seed-meal animal feed.
